The club are currently playing in the Sky Bet Championship, the second tier of English Football following their promotion from League One in the 2023/24 season and is under the management of Head Coach John Eustace. The club also boasts a successful and respected Category One Academy, a status which has been held since 2014, and a Women鈥檚 side competing in the FA Women鈥檚 National League Northern Premier Division. Derby County recently embarked on an exciting new era following the change in ownership to Clowes Developments (UK) Limited, in the summer of 2022. Our track record of producing talent is outstanding, and we intend to protect that proud legacy, investing in key roles within the club to build on the foundations in place for success.Derby County is seeking to recruit a First Team Performance Analyst. The role will focus on providing exceptional analysis and insight to support the First Team鈥檚 preparation and performance. Working closely with the coaching staff, the analyst will identify trends, deliver detailed reports and recommendations, and drive innovation to maximize the team's effectiveness.Key Responsibilities鈥 Play a key role in the department鈥檚 first team opposition analysis processes.鈥 Deliver high-quality insights to the coaching and analysis team, using telestration tools and video analysis to support tactical planning and game plan creation.鈥 Take ownership of specific elements of the pre-match process, which may include:o Coding or live scouting opposition fixtures.o Creating and delivering presentations on upcoming opponents.o Supporting on the creation of opposition reports.鈥 Attend and support the analysis department in live feedback at all first team fixtures. 鈥 Contribute to the continuous development of analysis workflows, best practices, and innovation within the department.鈥 Assist the wider performance analysis team with ad-hoc projects and analysis requests under the direction of the Lead First Team Analyst.Personal Characteristics鈥 Strong tactical understanding of the game.鈥 Highly detail-oriented and organised.鈥 Excellent communication and presentation skills.鈥 Capable of working under pressure and to quick turnaround times to match the demands of the football season.鈥 Creative thinker with the ability to innovate and find new competitive advantages.鈥 Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to continuous learning.鈥 Team player who thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment.鈥 Naturally curious, with a desire to seek out answers and develop solutions independently.鈥 Readiness to be flexible with working hours in line with first team schedule.Experience and Skills鈥 3+ years鈥 experience working within a first team environment in professional football is essential. 鈥 Strong proficiency with video analysis software (e.g., Sportscode, Angles, MatchTracker, Wyscout) and video telestration software is essential (e.g. Tactic Pro, Studio). 鈥 Strong proficiency within Mac software to aid video presentation and report creation (e.g. Keynote, Powerpoint).鈥 Holding an undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in Performance Analysis or in a Sports related subject is essential.鈥 Data Analysis, Visualisation and Programming experience (R, Python, Tableau, Power BI) is desirable but not essential.鈥 Relevant coaching qualifications are desirable but not essential.Competitive salary, dependent on experience.The role is full-time, working 35 hours per week.
